About Mike Tegels

Growing up on a farm in NW Iowa taught me the value of hard work and the integrity of a handshake.  I spent every possible moment following my dad as he worked, and any spare time found me outdoors exploring nature.

My early years were spent working on the farm, prepping the fields for spring planting, row cultivating, baling hay, walking beans, and helping with the fall harvest.  After harvest and fall tillage was complete, I enjoyed chasing after ring-necked pheasants and the occasional partridge. My hunting pursuit expanded in high school when I began shotgun hunting for whitetails.

After college, I moved to central Iowa and started my professional career at Pioneer Hi-bred International supporting the production, marketing, sales, and supply chain divisions which allowed me to explore my passion for farming from a different perspective.  During my time at Pioneer, I was lucky enough to marry, raise two great children, and purchase part of our family farm that was share-cropped with my parents until their retirement.

My devotion to the outdoors increased by taking up turkey hunting, duck hunting, bow hunting whitetails, and becoming an active volunteer with the Mid-Iowa Ducks Unlimited chapter and holding several offices including chapter and district chairman.

Since the first land purchase of the family farm, I  have purchased several more properties around central and south-central Iowa.  My love of the outdoors, farming, and land ownership led me to earn my Iowa real estate license and join the KILOTERRA team as the next chapter in my professional career.
